Tyler Legacy High School students and staff honored Jack Bryans, a former Tyler ISD Andy Woods student who passed away at a young age.

They created “Jack's Joy Week,” an on-campus fundraising event with the opportunity for all to participate in any way that would bring them joy!

Each day, activities were collaborative and fun. Some included both teachers and students, like a spirited dodgeball game. On other days, commemorative t-shirts were available; restaurant nights attended where proceeds were donated, and uniquely themed dress-up days! Proceeds went toward the ultimate goal, to collect as much money as possible to contribute to the Miracle League—a local organization building a baseball field at Faulkner Park in honor of Jack Bryans.

Tyler Mayor Don Warren was on hand to discuss the project, including the land the city donated for the field. He spoke about the need for all children to be able to participate in team sports, including those with disabilities.

Watching your child play and root them on is an essential part of growing up and family life!

The check presentation program featured the Tyler Legacy High School band drumline, a moving dance performance by the Southern Belles, a robust routine from the cheer squad, a beautiful duet of songs, and thoughtful videos of young Jack.

Legacy High School Principal Geoffrey Sherman revealed over $12,000 in total donations.

Many in attendance, including the Bryans family and his best friends from Andy Woods, were moved, some to tears.
