Congratulations to Yanixzia Martinez, a senior at Tyler High School, for being named the District Secondary Student of the Month for December.

Yanixzia is a cosmetology student at the Career & Technology Center (CTC) who goes above and beyond in her role. She has had excellent attendance, grades and salon performance the past three years while enrolled in the cosmetology program.

She continuously goes out of her way to help her fellow classmates - from explaining cosmetology services that they do not understand to helping them clean up at the end of the day. “This year, she took the extra step to sign up for the CTC Student Leadership Team, and I know she will proudly represent our cosmetology program,” CTC Cosmetology teacher Kortney Zuber said. “She has always been a very reliable and trustworthy student.”

Congratulations, Yanixzia!

The Tyler ISD District Students of the Month each receive a certificate and medal, sponsored by CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System.

Each month, Tyler ISD recognizes the exemplary efforts of two students, one from our elementary schools and one from our secondary schools, to be honored. Teachers and school principals submit nominations based on students' excellence in many areas, including academics, leadership, campus, and community involvement. These outstanding qualities lead to successful student outcomes both in and outside of the classroom.
