Congratulations to Sophie Ziegler, a senior at Legacy High School, for being named the District Secondary Student of the Month for October.

Sophie has served in the student council for two years, where she is the current secretary. She was a junior class officer last year. She is in the NHS, Science National Honor Society, Technical Honor Society, Key Club and Zonta Club. She currently holds a 4.0 and wants to attend Texas Tech after graduation. She has done volunteer work with the Make-a-Wish Foundation, Toys for Tots, Fresh 15 and coached 4th and 5th grade volleyball in the Tyler ISD league her freshman and sophomore year. Sophie is also in GIVE, is a volunteer organization for teenage girls who worked with the gold network to raise money to fight childhood cancer.  Sophie does Young Life every week and attends Green Acres Baptist Church.

The Tyler ISD District Students of the Month each receive a certificate and medal, sponsored by CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System.

Each month, Tyler ISD recognizes the exemplary efforts of two students, one from our elementary schools and one from our secondary schools, to be honored. Teachers and school principals submit nominations based on students' excellence in many areas, including academics, leadership, campus, and community involvement. These outstanding qualities lead to successful student outcomes both in and outside of the classroom.
