The Tyler ISD Board of Trustees welcomes a newly elected member to represent District 4. Cody Levrets replaces Dr. Patricia Nation, who served on the board for nine years. Levrets was sworn into service during the June 8 board workshop.

“I’m excited to begin working with other trustees and the administration,” Levrets said. “There are great things happening in Tyler ISD, and I am thankful I have this opportunity to serve. I also want to thank Dr. Nation for all of her hard work and effort over the last several years.”

Mr. Levrets is a former educator with a Bachelor of Arts in History from Tarleton State University and a Master of Education from the University of Florida. He began his educational career in Rule ISD in 1998 before moving to Tyler in 2005. While with Tyler ISD, Levrets served multiple campuses as an instructional technology specialist, coordinator of instructional technology & media services, and coordinator for career, technology, and education. He retired from education in 2019 and now works with Data Projections supporting K-12 schools with audio-visual equipment and services.

Levrets was elected in 2020 to the Precinct 42 chair position for the Republican Party. He has also volunteered for several organizations, including serving as a youth mentor for Tyler ISD. He has worked with the Smith County Junior Livestock Show as a superintendent and on the buyers’ committee, helping raise funds for Smith County youth.

“We look forward to working with Mr. Levrets and have full confidence his contributions will support our ongoing efforts towards successful student outcomes,” Board President Wade Washmon said.

Levrets and his wife Tangie have two daughters who graduated from Tyler ISD.
