Congratulations to our March District Teacher of the Month, Mrs. Melissa Dene, K-12 music teacher at the Wayne D. Boshears Center for Exceptional Programs. Melissa is a team leader and mentor on campus and is always looking for fun and exciting learning opportunities for her students. This semester alone, she has partnered with the Jones Elementary art class to provide a mainstreaming activity for her students. They worked together to make Valentine’s Day cards for a local nursing home.
In addition, she organized and ensured necessary accommodations for her students to attend the East Texas Symphony Orchestra. Melissa is working on plans for her students to participate in the Tyler ISD Artsfest and is planning the annual schoolwide program, “Amazing Art Race.” Mrs. Dene does is a huge asset for Boshears and Tyler ISD.
