Imported With Love

Hi! I'm Rita Mawuena Kpormego and I teach 2nd grade. This is also my second year at Griffin Elementary. I teach, Social Studies, Science and Phonics. I graduated from Texas Wesleyan University in Ft. Worth, Texas. I enjoy cooking, traveling and working out. I am from the country of Ghana. Ghana is located on the continent of Africa.

Kojo Goes to the Library is a book about a little boy's visit to the library. Our librarian selected this book to show students that libraries are universal. Every library around the world uses the same filing system and checkout expectations. In the book, Kojo learns how books are shelved, how to check in and check out and the power of a library card. It is written by Dr. Artika Tyner.

Like the colors in our US flag, the colors of the Ghanian flag also represent several things. The color red represents those who worked to secure the country's independence. Located in West Africa, Gold, represents the wealth of the country. Ghana is referred to as a part of the "The Gold Coast" of Africa. And green represents the beauty of nature of the green forests. And the single star represents unity.

Everyday I wake up excited to work at Griffin Elementary!
