The inaugural cohort of the Future Leaders of Tyler program was recognized during a closing panel and graduation presentation, celebrating students who successfully completed the leadership initiative and demonstrated exceptional growth throughout the program.

The event brought together students, program leaders, and community partners to reflect on a year of leadership development, career exploration, and meaningful community engagement. Attendees heard from guest speakers, sponsors, and organizers who played a key role in guiding and supporting students along their journey.

A highlight of the final session was a Banking & Finance panel featuring representatives from two sponsors, Cooperative Teachers Credit Union and Texas Farm Credit, along with Southside Bank. Panelists shared valuable insights into financial careers, industry trends, and the importance of financial literacy, offering students a real-world perspective as they prepare for future opportunities.

Students were honored with certificates of completion, and several participants received surprise gifts recognizing those who went above and beyond in their commitment, leadership, and engagement throughout the program.

β€œThe inaugural Future Leaders of Tyler program highlights the importance of investing in our future workforce and community leaders,” Executive Director of the Tyler Area Business Education Council LaToya Young said. β€œThese students are engaged, thoughtful, and eager to understand how they can contribute to Tyler’s continued growth. This program is a powerful example of how business and education can come together to build a stronger, more connected community.”

The Future Leaders of Tyler program was designed to equip students with essential leadership skills while connecting them with local industry professionals and organizations. Through hands-on learning experiences and mentorship, students gained valuable insight into career pathways and the impact they can have within their community.

Applications are now open for the next Future Leaders of Tyler cohort. Students interested in participating in the upcoming class are encouraged to talk to their campus counselors about how to apply and take part in this unique opportunity to grow as leaders, explore career pathways, and connect with local professionals.
