Mr. Carter

Lights....Camera....Action- In the center of the Tyler Civic Centers box stage, a long table with thirteen chairs await a jury of men set to determine the fate of a young man. The all male jury enters...called out one by one. Finally, as they all sit, the Foreman announces that the deliberations are to start. This Foreman looks oddly familiar! It is Mr. Carter, our 5th grade science and social studies teacher at Caldwell!

During the excitement of the Tyler Rose Festival weekend and Friday night lights, Mr. Carter hit the stage opening night ready to experience something he had never done...act on a stage! Having grown up hearing the story at home with his mother who taught it in her high school level english course, he was encouraged to tryout by his family. When he made it, he told his peers "I am really excited but I also really nervous"!

You wouldn't have known! With the same dedication he uses in the classroom, Mr. Carter was a star on the stage. He managed his nerves to put on a compelling character and supported the other cast members in producing an outstanding version of Reginald Rose play, 12 Angry Men.

Still want to see it? Tickets are available at Tyler Civic Center website, and Mr. Carter will have another weekend onstage with his doubled cast November 2nd and 5th.

Way to break a leg Mr. Carter!
