National School Counseling Week is sponsored by ASCA and emphasizes the incredible influence school counselors can have in assisting students with school success and preparing them for a career. We always celebrate National School Counseling Week the first full week in February.

Tyler ISD honored its school counselors and mental health counselors with a “Red-Carpet Affair” luncheon on Tuesday, February 7.

“I want to take this time to thank and honor our incredible counselors for the difficult and challenging work that they do each day for their students and families,” Coordinator of Guidance and Counseling Lauri Anderson said. “The professionalism that they exhibit and the kindness, compassion, and love that they express inspires me daily, and I am honored to work with and support such an amazing team of individuals.”

Decorations included a red-carpet photo booth, balloons, gold stars, and miniature “Star School Counselor” Oscar awards. The Communications Department also provided the counselors with some Tyler ISD swag gifts.

Following the luncheon, the counselors participated in a fun trivia game and the winning team received donated area restaurant gift cards.
