Tyler ISD is proud to announce that Jana McWain, an early childhood special education teacher at Jones Elementary School, has been nominated for the 2022-2023 National LifeChanger of the Year Award. "Ms. McWain's classroom is truly our 'happy place,'” said Jones Elementary School Principal Dr. NaTasha Crain. "The learning that happens in her class is extraordinary. It's exciting to observe her students' growth while they learn language through play and real-world experiences. The Preschool Speech Program truly prepares students for successful outcomes as they begin their educational journeys."
The anonymous colleague who nominated Ms. McWain shared that her passion for her students, families, and colleagues is a constant inspiration. She is known on campus as a bright ray of sunshine who is funny and cheerful, and her optimism is contagious. Ms. McWain is skilled at turning every opportunity into a learning experience, and her positive impact on her students lasts a lifetime.
Winners will be chosen by a selection committee comprised of former winners and education professionals. Award winners are selected based on the following criteria:
● Proven ability to make a beneficial difference in the lives of students
● Ability to positively add to the development of the school's atmosphere
● Involved in leadership activities at the school and/or community level
● Demonstrative record of excellent performance at the professional level
● Commitment to producing a nurturing atmosphere
● Adherence to high moral and ethical standards
As Ms. McWain truly deserves this nomination, winning the LifeChanger award would also benefit her campus. Each winner will receive a cash award split between the individual winner and their school.
