Commissioner of Education Mike Morath visited classrooms at T.J. Austin Elementary School to see the great work that our educators have been doing. Region 7 Education Service Center chose the school because it is implementing several instructional programs that align with the Texas Education Agency’s (TEA) Effective School Framework. The school also has a curriculum pilot with HQIM – Amplify Reading and participates in the state’s Teacher Incentive Allotment.

As Commissioner, Morath heads the Texas Education Agency (TEA), which oversees pre-kindergarten through high school education for more than 5.5 million students enrolled in both traditional independent school districts and public charter schools.
