The Tyler ISD Foundation was awarded first place for non-profit organizations at the Second Annual Tyler Metro Chamber of Commerce Community Image Awards.

"We're so honored to have received first place for the nonprofit organization award category," Tyler ISD Foundation Executive Director Suzette Farr said. "We are grateful to the Tyler Metro Chamber of Commerce and our community for their continuous support and recognition of our organization's impactful work and mission. We love our Tyler ISD teachers, students, and families!"

Tyler ISD School Counselor Dr. Sonja Warren was also awarded first place for her work at Clarkston Elementary School. "I am so proud and honored to receive this Community Image Award for Best School Counselor,” Dr. Warren said. “My goal each day is to be a servant leader in Tyler ISD and in my community.”

The ceremony was held at the Rose Garden Center with several hundred guests attending.

The annual event brings together the East Texas Community, including businesses and individuals, to recognize everyone's accomplishments.

Recipients were nominated and voted for by the community for the top three in each category to receive an award. Organizers said that recognizing businesses that don't usually get attention is essential, and the Community Image Awards provides that opportunity.

The Metro Chamber of Commerce is an innovative urban Chamber of Commerce committed to creating and developing economic growth and business opportunities in North Tyler and its surrounding communities.

Several business networking events are already on the calendar for 2024. The chamber is open to all businesses, and representatives encourage anyone to join. People can apply for membership at metrochamberoftyler.org.
