Tyler High School and Tyler Legacy High School were presented with the Community Partner Organization Hunger Hero Award by the East Texas Food Bank.

For 33 years, students from both high schools have participated in their own fundraiser for ETFB’s BackPack program by raising funds and food with the annual Pantry Raid. The BackPack program allows qualifying Tyler ISD students to take a backpack full of food home on Friday after school. The backpack contains items that can help sustain the student until they return to school on Monday morning.

This year alone, Tyler High and Tyler Legacy raised 144,545 meals, including over $26,600 in monetary donations and 13,578 pounds of nonperishable food items for the East Texas Food Bank.
