Tyler High School honored three senior athletes as they signed letters of intent to compete in collegiate track and field on Monday afternoon. The signing ceremony took place in the varsity gymnasium in front of family, coaches, and teammates.

Elijah Hayward, Boys Track and Field β Northwestern State University
Accolades: 100-meter dash: 10.60, 200-meter dash: 21.30, 400-meter dash: 47.90
Tyler High Boys Track & Field Head Coach Torey Elder: βElijah is the true definition of a sprinter, competing in multiple sprint events with determination and discipline. He is devoted to perfecting his craft and has had continued improvement over the years in his performances across his events. The future looks very bright for Elijah. With the same work ethic, focus, and drive, there is no doubt that we will be hearing big things from his collegiate career and beyond.β

Sariya Simmons, Girls Track and Field β Jarvis Christian University
Tyler High Girls Track & Field Head Coach Torey Elder: βSariya has been a dedicated member of our program for four years while also serving as part of the football film crew. Her determination and commitment to always being prepared helped carry her every season. She plans to major in psychology, a field that reflects her passion for understanding and helping others. As she moves forward, she will continue applying the skills, discipline, and work ethic she has developed throughout her journey. We are proud of the person Sariya has become and excited to see what all she will accomplish in the future.β

Braxton Tatum, Boys Track and Field β East Texas Baptist University
Tyler High Boys Track & Field Head Coach Torey Elder: βBraxton is a dedicated two-sport athlete who excels in basketball and track while also serving as a football trainer. Ranked 23rd in his graduating class, Braxton has shown a commitment to both academic and athletic success. He plans to major in physical therapy, a career path that reflects his passion for helping others and his love for sports. With his dedication and character, Braxton has a bright future ahead of him.β
