On February 27th, students from Tyler High visited Preview Day at TJC. These students have made the "TJC Promise."
The TJC Promise is a six-year student success program that covers up to two years of tuition and fees at Tyler Junior College for eligible graduates from participating East Texas high schools.
Starting in the 9th grade, students sign a pledge to meet specific standards throughout high school:
Academic Achievement: Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Persistence: Limit unexcused absences (e.g., 10 or fewer per year from sophomore to senior year) and maintain a clean disciplinary record.
Community Service: Complete at least 25 volunteer hours by April 30 of their senior year.
The initiative functions as a "last-dollar" scholarship, meaning it covers remaining tuition and fees after federal grants and other scholarships are applied.
