Ms Erica Davis and Coach Kelly sharing about balanced nutrition to a group of students seated on the floor of the gym

Last week, the Ramey Elementary School welcomed Ms. Erica Davis from the Smith County Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Office for an engaging session on Balancing Food and Play. The initiative, organized by the Ramey Library in collaboration with Coach Kelly, saw enthusiastic participation from every Pre-K through 5th-grade student, either on Monday or Tuesday.

Ms. Davis's interactive session aimed to educate students about the importance of balanced eating, emphasizing the significance of incorporating a variety of food groups into their diets. The students learned about the different food groups, their nutritional benefits, and the role they play in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

The session didn't just focus on nutrition; it also highlighted the importance of regular exercise. Students were encouraged to embrace physical activity as an integral part of their daily routine. To make the learning experience even more exciting, the children had the opportunity to enjoy a delicious fruit salad, learning a simple yet nutritious recipe.

The Balancing Food and Play session not only imparted valuable knowledge but also inspired students to make healthier choices in their lives. The collaboration between the Ramey Library and Coach Kelly showcased the dedication of the school to holistic education, promoting both physical and nutritional well-being among its students.
