Ramey Elementary School recently played host to special guests from the East Texas Food Bank, who engaged students in two days of  informative sessions about nutrition and healthy eating habits. The event aimed to educate children on making balanced choices and incorporating a variety of fruits and vegetables into their diets.

The interactive session catered to different age groups, with 3rd through 5th graders participating in a hands-on activity to create their own trail mix. This activity not only allowed the students to have a fun and interactive experience but also emphasized the importance of choosing nutritious snacks.

For the Kinder through 2nd grade students, the focus was on trying new and fresh produce. They were encouraged to taste test fresh broccoli and blueberries, introducing them to the vibrant colors and flavors of a diverse range of fruits and vegetables. The goal was to foster a positive attitude towards healthy eating from a young age, promoting lifelong habits that contribute to overall well-being.

The collaboration with the East Texas Food Bank not only provided valuable insights into nutrition but also created a memorable and engaging experience for the students at Ramey Elementary. The school looks forward to future initiatives that promote health and wellness within the student community.
