Kids with oil and water at a table in costumes, smiling at the camera

On October 31st, the library was abuzz with over 200 Ramey students diving into an exciting world of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM). As part of a thrilling event, these young minds explored a series of captivating STEAM stations, each offering unique hands-on experiences.

The first station unleashed their inner mad scientists as they concocted slime using fiber powder. Students learned about the principles of chemistry and polymerization while creating gooey, colorful concoctions. Laughter and amazement filled the air as they marveled at their slimy masterpieces.

Next up was the engineering station, where students became budding engineers by designing catapults with popsicle sticks and rubber bands. They eagerly launched candy corn and mini pumpkins into the air, learning about the mechanics of motion and the physics of trajectory.

At the "Lava Lamp Lab," young scientists explored the wonders of density and chemical reactions. By combining oil, water, and an effervescent Alka-Seltzer tablet, they crafted mesmerizing lava lamps that danced with colorful bubbles. It was a captivating blend of art and science that left everyone spellbound.

The library's STEAM day was not only a delightful treat but also an educational adventure, sparking creativity and curiosity in every student. These engaging stations provided a memorable experience, reinforcing the idea that learning can be both fun and illuminating.
