Thursday evening marked a milestone for approximately 80 graduates of Tyler ISDβs RISE Academy as they crossed the stage during commencement exercises held at the Tyler High School gymnasium. Surrounded by cheering family members, friends and educators, students celebrated the completion of their high school journeys through a campus designed to provide flexible and alternative learning opportunities.
The school serves students in grades 9-12 through self-paced instruction, credit recovery and dropout prevention programs, offering a pathway for students whose educational experiences may have looked different from those at a traditional high school.
School officials recognized the perseverance and determination shown by the graduating class, many of whom balanced personal challenges, work schedules or nontraditional academic paths while completing graduation requirements.
