elementary aged students in the gymnasium dressed as storybook characters

The Storybook Character Parade was a HUGE hit at Peete Elementary School. Promoted like this: “Detectives always need to look at all the clues to solve a mystery – come dressed in your storybook character disguise for the character parade.” This annual event creates excitement as the kick-off to the campus Fall Festival.

Campus staff dressed like Dalmatians started the parade as they led the way down the halls outside the classrooms. All around, the costumes were elaborate; from The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Peete the Cat, The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs, and The Runaway Pumpkin to books that became later became movies like Toy Story and Harry Potter, they had every subject covered.

Smiles were big when everyone gathered in the gymnasium, enthusiastically showing off their creativity tied to their favorite book. The Couch Potato, The Smart Cookie, The Good Egg, and The Bad Seed all hung out to show off their collaborative effort.

The Storybook Character Parade helps to foster a love for literature, creativity, and collaboration among Peete Elementary's students. The event demonstrated that the magic of storytelling extends far beyond the pages of books, creating lasting memories and sparking a passion for imagination and discovery.
