Tyler ISD has released the draft calendar for the 2026β2027 school year and is inviting students, parents, staff, and community members to review the proposal and share their feedback. The Tyler ISD Board of Trustees held the first reading of the draft during its November board meeting, opening the next step of the annual calendar development process.
Each year, the districtβs calendar committee works closely with administrators, teachers, parents, business leaders, and community representatives to create a schedule that supports student success and reflects the needs of families and staff. Feedback gathered through the public comment period plays an important role in shaping the final calendar.
The proposed calendar aligns with all Texas Education Agency requirements and meets the instructional minutes mandated by House Bill 2610. The draft sets the first day of school for students as Wednesday, August 12, 2026, and the final day as Friday, May 21, 2027.
The committee aims to provide a balanced schedule that includes meaningful breaks throughout the year, while also ensuring the school year concludes before the Memorial Day weekend, a preference consistently expressed by families and staff.
Community members can view the proposed calendar and submit comments through the districtβs calendar survey, available until 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2. All feedback will be reviewed prior to the Board acting on the final version of the 2026β2027 school calendar at its December regular meeting.
