Today, Tyler ISD AVID classrooms proudly joined the nationwide celebration of AVID Day 2025, a day dedicated to showcasing the goals and achievements of AVID students. This yearβs theme, #MyAVIDWhy, invited students to reflect on how the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program has shaped their growth and future plans.
In classrooms across the district, students completed the prompt βBecause of AVID, Iβ¦β and shared their reflections through signs, photos, and videos. Many wrote about gaining confidence in their academic skills, learning how to stay organized, and preparing for life after high schoolβwhether through college, career, or military service. Teachers encouraged students to share their AVID Why statements with classmates and on social media, creating a ripple effect of encouragement and pride.
βAVID Day celebrates the goals and achievements of Tyler ISD students! #MyAVIDWhy showcases how AVID equips them for college, career, and military readiness. This national recognition day underscores the districtβs commitment to empowering students with opportunities, skills, and confidence. AVID continues to equip students with the tools to thrive academically and personally. It is more than a classβitβs a pathway to the future,β said Lillian Brooks, AVID Coordinator.
Campuses celebrated in creative ways, from displaying student signs in hallways to recording short video clips of students reading their statements. AVID Day 2025 gave Tyler ISD students a chance to recognize their hard work, reflect on their progress, and inspire others to find their own AVID Why.
