Head

Owens Elementary School welcomed a special guest, Alaina Head, a parent and avid bee enthusiast, who took the initiative to educate third-grade students about the vital role of bees in our ecosystem. Head, armed with her passion for bees and knowledge as a beekeeper, engaged the young minds in an interactive session.

The cafeteria buzzed with excitement as Head delved into the world of pollinators, highlighting their crucial role in plant reproduction and food production. She captivated the students with insights into the anatomy of bees, shedding light on the intricate design that enables them to thrive in their environment.

Emphasizing the importance of bees to the environment, Head shared fascinating facts about their behavior, emphasizing the collaborative nature of bee colonies. To make the learning experience even sweeter, she provided the students with a hands-on opportunity to taste local honey harvested from her own bee hive, explore the texture of honeycomb and hold preserved bees to see them up close.

The students left the session not only with a newfound appreciation for bees but also with a deeper understanding of the delicate balance they maintain in our ecosystem. Alaina Head's dedication to environmental education left a lasting impression on Owens Elementary, inspiring both students and teachers alike.
