Maria Anza is a 3rd Grade RLA Bilingual Teacher who brings heart, passion, and purpose into her classroom every single day. Originally from Spain, her love for teaching started early—lining up her dolls as a child and “teaching” them long before she ever stepped into a real classroom. That passion has only grown stronger.
This is Maria’s 7th year teaching, her 3rd year in the United States, and her 3rd year at Orr Elementary, where she has made an incredible impact. Her students have shown huge academic growth, especially in reading and writing, and even more importantly, in confidence. She is intentional about creating a safe, encouraging classroom where every student feels valued and capable of success.

Como parte del programa VIT de intercambio cultural de maestros, los estudiantes de kínder bilingüe de la clase de Mrs. Diosa aprendieron sobre su país de origen, Colombia. A través de diversas actividades, los estudiantes conocieron aspectos generales del país, como su ubicación geográfica, sus países vecinos, su capital y su cultura. Posteriormente, los estudiantes profundizaron en los símbolos patrios que representan a la República de Colombia: la bandera, el escudo y el himno nacional. Durante este proceso, los estudiantes se divirtieron mientras desarrollaban una comprensión más amplia del mundo.

Mrs. Mark’s class is diving into Reading TEKS 1.6G by exploring texts about the Arctic habitat! Students worked on making and confirming predictions as they read, using text features and illustrations to identify characteristics of Arctic environments and the animals that live there.
The best part? 🧊💦 Students got hands-on by experiencing ice water to better understand how Arctic animals use special features—like thick fur and blubber—to stay warm. It was a fun and engaging way to bring learning to life!
