🌟 Orr Elementary Teacher of the Year 🌟
Please join us in celebrating Maria Anza Goni, our incredible Orr Elementary Teacher of the Year! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ

Maria Anza is a 3rd Grade RLA Bilingual Teacher who brings heart, passion, and purpose into her classroom every single day. Originally from Spain, her love for teaching started earlyβ€”lining up her dolls as a child and β€œteaching” them long before she ever stepped into a real classroom. That passion has only grown stronger.

This is Maria’s 7th year teaching, her 3rd year in the United States, and her 3rd year at Orr Elementary, where she has made an incredible impact. Her students have shown huge academic growth, especially in reading and writing, and even more importantly, in confidence. She is intentional about creating a safe, encouraging classroom where every student feels valued and capable of success.

Maria also loves connecting with students across campus and collaborating with colleagues, and she credits much of her success to the support of her family and the Orr Elementary team who welcomed and guided her along the way.

πŸ’™ β€œI am honored to be nominated for Teacher of the Year and proud to represent my students and the Orr Elementary family.”

Congratulations, Maria Anza Goni! We are so proud of you and grateful for the passion, dedication, and love you bring to our students every day. πŸ‘βœ¨

πŸ¬πŸ“ Sweet Learning in Mr. Tenorio’s Class! πŸ“πŸ¬
Mr. Tenorio’s class had a marshmallow-tastic time composing 3D shapes (2.8B) using marshmallows! Students built, explored, and identified three-dimensional figures while strengthening their understanding of faces, edges, and verticesβ€”all through hands-on learning.

Learning is always better when it’s interactive (and a little sweet)! Great work to our Cubs for thinking creatively and building strong math skills.

Way to go, Mr. Tenorio’s class! 🦁✨

Mrs. Mark’s class is diving into Reading TEKS 1.6G by exploring texts about the Arctic habitat! Students worked on making and confirming predictions as they read, using text features and illustrations to identify characteristics of Arctic environments and the animals that live there.

The best part? πŸ§ŠπŸ’¦ Students got hands-on by experiencing ice water to better understand how Arctic animals use special featuresβ€”like thick fur and blubberβ€”to stay warm. It was a fun and engaging way to bring learning to life!
