Honoring Dr. Marting Luther King Jr., No School Monay Jan. 19 , Celebrating Black History Month! All February Long! @nd Grade Perfermance "The Sound of the Underground Railroad" February 20, 2026

Orr Elementary is proud to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a leader whose powerful message of hope, courage, and equality continues to inspire us today. In the classroom, students will learn about Dr. King’s dream and how showing kindness, respect, and fairness can make a positive impact in our school and community.

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, there will be no school on Monday, January 19th. We encourage families to take this time to reflect together, read about Dr. King, or participate in acts of service that honor his legacy.

Looking ahead, Orr Elementary is excited to celebrate Black History Month throughout the entire month of February. Students will explore influential leaders, historical events, and cultural contributions through engaging lessons, discussions, and activities designed to build understanding and appreciation.

A special highlight of the month will be our 2nd-grade performance, β€œThe Sounds of the Underground Railroad,” on February 20, 2026. This meaningful performance will bring history to life through music and storytelling, showcasing our students’ learning and hard work.

Together, we look forward to honoring the past, celebrating culture, and continuing to grow as a caring and inclusive school community at Orr Elementary.
