The Tyler ISD Board of Trustees has approved the District Calendar and Boshears Calendar for the 2026-2027 school year.
Students across the district will kick off the new school year on Wednesday, August 13, 2026, with the last day of school set for Friday, May 21, 2027. This schedule reflects continued feedback from families and staff who prefer the school year to wrap up prior to Memorial Day.
The Boshears Center for Exceptional Programs will follow the same start date of August 12, 2026, with their school year ending on Thursday, July 15, 2027.
Student holidays are as follows:
Labor Day - September 7
Fall Break - October 12
Thanksgiving - November 23 - 27
Christmas Break - December 21, 2026 - January 1, 2027
Martin Luther King Jr. Day - January 18
Spring Break - March 8-12
Good Friday β March 26
Memorial Day - May 31
Early Release days are as follows:
November 20; December 18; March 5; May 21
Staff Development days are as follows:
August 3 - 7, 10 - 11; October 13; January 4; February 15; May 24
The newly adopted calendar maintains the 9-week grading period structure. Each year, the districtβs calendar committee gathers input from administrators, teachers, parents, business leaders, and community members to create a schedule that best supports teaching and learning.
βAs always, we construct the calendar to meet the annual learning objectives for our students while building in what makes sense for traditional breaks for faculty, staff, and parents,β Tyler ISD Superintendent Dr. Marty Crawford said. βWe have also intentionally added more professional development days throughout the year to support our teachers so they can keep our students on track for successful outcomes.β
The draft calendar was first presented during the November regular board meeting, followed by an opportunity for families and community members to share feedback through an online survey.
