We Require All Students to Learn Digital Citizenship

We teach our students during all three years at Moore how to take ownership of their digital lives, and the responsibilities that come with that, through our required Digital Citizenship program.

This program is brought into all courses, preparing students with critical 21st-century skills and teaching them to make smart choices online.

Did You Know This About STEM?

STEM-based education teaches children more than science and mathematics concepts. The focus on hands-on learning with real-world applications helps develop various skill sets, including creativity and 21st-century skills.

As technology progresses, new jobs will be created that were unheard of before. In ten years, new jobs will need to be filled that previously didn’t exist. We prepare your child now for jobs that haven't even been thought about yet.

According to Dell, professionals believe that 85% of STEM jobs don’t exist yet. These are jobs that will be needed in 2030.

Reasons Why We Focus on STEM

STEM and Science Electives

All of our students have access to our science electives except Engineering. First, let's talk about STEM more.

In STEM education, students learn how to manage their time and break larger projects into smaller steps. That skill will help them throughout their lives, whether working on an office project or doing a home remodel.

The Following Elective Requires Prerequisites to Enroll

physics

Integrated Physics and Chemistry

This is our most advanced science elective and enrichment course, which is why it requires prerequisites.

Your child would need to complete the entire accelerated math program, so they have Algebra completed before their 8th-grade year to take this advanced STEM course.

Learn more about our Accelerated Math Program in the next section.

Accelerated Math

Moore is one of the only schools in Tyler ISD that offers an accelerated math pathway and the only school that offers high school Geometry to 8th graders in Tyler ISD.

To explain this, we will break it down as simply as possible because it can get confusing.

collegeboard springboard logo

We Use CollegeBoard SpringBoard Curriculum

Why is this important? The best part is that CollegeBoard uses the same vocabulary and problem-writing style as the PSAT 8/9, PSAT 10, PSAT/NMSQT, and SAT, which prepares your child for these important tests.

Your child will learn problem-solving skills in 6-8 grade that will accompany them as they prepare for college enrollment.

Things to Know

Any Student Can Be in Accelerated Math

Based on STAAR Math Scores

All Students Receive 1.5 Hours of Math Class

That's twice as much per day as a regular middle school.

All Grades Offer Honors and On-Level Math

We are an advanced school, and we offer advanced course options.

math steps

The Maximum Accelerated Path

If your child plans to do the complete accelerated math program, it is crucial that you both are prepared for academic rigor.

The students who take this path want to be future engineers and architects looking for in-depth mathematics knowledge.

6th Grade

Covers 6th and 7th grade math plus some 8th grade pre-Algebra.

7th Grade

Take Pre-AP Algebra for high school credit.

8th Grade

Take Pre-AP Geometry for high school credit.

High School

Your child would take AP Calculus AB as a junior and AP Calculus BC as a senior.

Student Life

Our students love the essence and culture of Moore. We have high expectations, and so do they.

What stands out and separates our school from all the rest is how you get the academic achievement of a technology institute while your child still receives the complete middle school experience with band, fine arts, and sports.

They can even explore their interests and find their place through our many clubs and organizations.

We would love to have you here at Moore Middle School.

If you like our academics, see what else makes us so special.
