snow globe and four individual pictures of a teen boy or girl standing next to a man in a suit

A group of talented Tyler Legacy High School students is spreading holiday cheer far beyond East Texas this yearβ€”their artwork now hangs proudly on the Christmas tree in the House Chamber of the Texas State Capitol. In a collaborative effort led by Mrs. Tefteller’s class, four students created a uniquely meaningful ornament that represents both their creativity and the rich heritage of their hometown.

The ornament, selected as this year’s House District 6 design, features a beautifully crafted tree of roses encased within a snow globe. The imagery pays homage to Tyler’s long-standing title as the Rose Capital of America, blending tradition with artistic imagination in a way that captures the spirit of the season.

β€œThis year’s House District 6 Christmas ornament is something special,” District 6 Representative Daniel Alders said. β€œI’m honored to have their beautiful artwork on display at the Texas Capitol this holiday season.”

Tyler ISD is proud to recognize the students behind this exceptional piece: Kamryn Lumley (11th grade), Ada Studinka (9th grade), Knox Tefteller (12th grade), and Sloane Tefteller (9th grade). Their dedication and collaboration brought the ornament to life, showcasing the remarkable skills and vision found within Tyler ISD classrooms.

Their work now stands among decorations from across the state, offering Capitol visitors a festive glimpse of Tyler’s vibrant identity. The students’ artistry serves as a reminder of the powerful stories that can be told through creativityβ€”and the pride a community feels when its young people shine.
