Congratulations to Griffin Bigbie, senior at Tyler Legacy High School, for being named District Secondary Student of the Month.
Griffin is a student who embodies a remarkable combination of academic excellence, servant leadership, and genuine compassion for others.
Griffin is an exceptionally organized, trustworthy, and patient individual. She consistently demonstrates strong time management and leadership skills, balancing her rigorous academic schedule with extensive community service and extracurricular activities. As a member of National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, Student Council, Mu Alpha Theta, Key Club, HOSA, and Spanish Club, she has shown a deep commitment to both her school and her community.
Her dedication to serving others is truly inspiring. Griffin has completed over 530 hours of community service during her high school years. Through her involvement with the National Charity League, she has contributed over 130 hours alone, volunteering at places such as the East Texas Food Bank, Operation Gratitude, and many other meaningful projects. Additionally, she has volunteered alongside her family at Childrenβs Village, Church Under the Bridge, and Highway 80 Rescue Mission, serving meals and bringing joy to those in need. She also enjoys volunteering at her elementary school, church events, and during the Texas Rose Festival.
Outside of her service commitments, Griffin is actively involved in athletics, having played both volleyball and golf throughout high school. She also finds great joy in babysitting children of all ages, traveling, and spending time with her friends and family. Her nurturing spirit and love for caring for children are a natural fit for her future goal of becoming a pediatric nurse.
Griffin is the kind of student who not only excels academically but uplifts those around her with kindness, humility, and a positive attitude. She truly leads by example and leaves a lasting impact on every community she joins.
The Tyler ISD District Students of the Month each receive a certificate and medal, sponsored by CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System.
Each month, Tyler ISD recognizes the exemplary efforts of two students, one from our elementary schools and one from our secondary schools, to be honored. Teachers and school principals submit nominations based on students' excellence in many areas, including academics, leadership, campus, and community involvement. These outstanding qualities lead to successful student outcomes both in and outside of the classroom.
