Tyler Legacy students and dance members from Zion Temple Dance Group performing at the Tyler Legacy Black History Month program

Tyler Legacy High School marked the culmination of Black History Month with its 6th annual Black History Month Program on Friday, February 23, held at the Tyler Legacy Fine Arts Center with the theme "Untold Stories in Black History". The event showcased a vibrant tapestry of performances from Tyler Legacy staff, students, and esteemed community members.

Two notable guest speakers, Pastor Stanley Cofer and Dr. Jerad Mosely, delivered inspiring addresses, emphasizing the significance of celebrating diversity and honoring African American heritage and highlighting lesser known significant figures in black history. Among the highlights was the recognition of Tyler Legacy student Kamrbie Whitney, recipient of the Rosa Parks essay contest hosted by the Texas African American Museum.

The program dazzled with a diverse array of performances including singing, dance groups, poetry readings, and even a rap performance, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the African American community. Following the performances, attendees were treated to refreshments prepared and served by Tyler Legacy's talented culinary arts students under the guidance of Chef Cakley.  Attendees also got to enjoy decorations by Ms. Tefteller's art class as well as a display from Yesterday's Tomorrow and F.A.A.C.E.S courtesy of Marlando Fields which was a compilation of African American Artifacts.

A heartfelt thank you extended to all performers, participants, and attendees for their contributions to the success of the event. Special appreciation was directed towards Mrs. Hayter for her dedicated coordination and planning, ensuring a memorable celebration of Black History Month at Tyler Legacy High School.
