Students holding up fists

Jones students and staff have been celebrating Black History month throughout February in a variety of ways.  From special guest speakers in morning meeting to sharing "firsts" in their family and personal life to a choice board full of topics to learn about and respond to, we have honored and celebrated Black individuals special contributions to our shared history.  All of those celebrations culminated with a night of special remembrance at our "Change Sings: Black History Program."

Jaguar families enjoyed a live museum, art showcase and musical performances and speeches shared by students and staff alike.

Jaguars took special time aside to honor those who have made special impacts, such as Maya Angelou, who was honored by Ms. Destinee Davis.

Students sang songs individually,  in groups and also performed with instruments, such as the drum.

Jaguar families, students and staff also enjoyed a special performance featuring Texas College Choice and Prophetic Prayze Dance Team.  It made for a night that will not soon be forgotten.

Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make this a memorable night, especially our specials team, Ms. Rosser, Coach Granberry, and Mrs. Smith as well as Mrs. Cooper, Mrs. Fernandez, Ms. Zavala and Dr. Crain along with countless other Jones teachers, students, parents and staff!
