Tyler ISD and our newest Success Partner, Vexus Fiber, announced the Hubbard Middle School Care Closet sponsorship today. This was the first effort of the commitment of $10,000 this year to support the needs of our schools in the neighborhoods Vexus currently serves.

“Vexus is very passionate about our commitment to supporting the communities we serve,” Regional Vice President of Operations East Texas and Louisiana Cameron Miller said. “We pride ourselves on being community builders, and we don’t just mean that in the sense of the service we bring to Tyler. We live and work in this community and are dedicated to improving it for everyone.”

The Hubbard Care Closet was created so counselors had an ongoing place to store items of immediate need for our students. The closet has been stocked through donations and, most recently, by using a thousand dollars from Vexus to purchase coats and warm hoodies to send home with students before the temperatures dropped and we saw icy conditions. Over a dozen new coats, hoodies, and fleece wear were distributed during the most recent winter storm.

“The Tyler ISD Success Partnership holds a special place in our hearts as it directly contributes to the well-being of students in our community,” Miller continued. “Initiatives like the Care Closet are not just about addressing immediate needs; they’re a testament to our ongoing commitment to ensuring the continued welfare of those we serve, especially as temperatures drop. At Vexus, we believe in the power of connectivity, not only through fiber-optic networks but also through the threads of compassion that bind us to the communities we proudly call home.”

“Hubbard Middle School is extremely appreciative of the generous donations from Vexus,” Principal John Smiley said. “Having more than 60% of families considered low socioeconomic status, this donation helps supplement and provide for those Husky students with food or clothing needs. Thank you, Vexus, for supporting your hometown school district and keeping the needs of children in mind.”

Care Closets are also sponsored by Vexus at Rice and Jack Elementary Schools, Three Lakes Middle School, and Legacy High School.
