NAMM Foundation. 2026 Best Communities for Music Education. Proud BCME District.

Tyler ISD has once again been named one of the nation’s Best Communities for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation, marking the eighth consecutive year the district has received this prestigious distinction.

2026 Best Communities for Music Education

The Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) Award recognizes school districts across the United States for their outstanding commitment to music education and ensuring all students have access to high-quality, comprehensive music programs. Now in its 27th year, the program continues to spotlight districts that prioritize music as an essential part of a well-rounded education.

In 2026, just over 1,000 school districts and schools nationwide were selected for the honor, including 120 districts in Texas. Tyler ISD’s continued inclusion highlights the district’s sustained excellence and dedication to providing meaningful musical opportunities for students from kindergarten through 12th grade.

β€œReceiving this recognition for the eighth year in a row is a testament to the passion and commitment of our music educators, students, and community,” said Luke Dean, Tyler ISD Director of Visual and Performing Arts. β€œOur programs continue to thrive because of the strong support from our district leadership and community, ensuring every student has the opportunity to experience the impact of music education.”

Award recipients are selected through a rigorous application and review process that evaluates critical factors such as funding, instructional time, participation, facilities, and community support. To ensure accuracy and integrity, applications are independently reviewed and verified by WolfBrown, a leading research and evaluation firm specializing in education and the arts.

The BCME designation not only recognizes achievement but also helps districts strengthen and expand their music programs, reinforcing the vital role music plays in student development and academic success.

Tyler ISD remains committed to fostering creativity, discipline, and collaboration through its robust visual and performing arts programs, continuing to make music education accessible and impactful for all students.
