Dixie Elementary School held a Genius Hour for students interested in different clubs to explore their individual geniuses!  Each child could pick from clubs like Lego building, tie dye, grilling, dance, drawing, football, and more!

"It is a unique opportunity for our students to engage in activities they enjoy that may not necessarily be academic," Principal Kimberly Simmons said. "Teaching the whole child and highlighting all of our students' talents is something we always try to promote here at Dixie.”

Lego Building is a club where students of all ages can come together and learn new ways to design structures. Students can team up to create something from concept to completion. This collaborative experience teaches the value of teamwork, communication and problem-solving.

The Grilling Club is always a hit with students because they learn to make all kinds of food, like hamburgers, hot dogs, and chicken fajitas!

The Dance Club lets students get their wiggles out and express themselves in new ways while the Drawing Club channels the passion of many students into a guided and interactive way of experiencing art.

Football, of course, is a dream club for many students who learn the rules and plays of football while enjoying the game with their friends and teachers.

“It was great to see our staff be able to share their passion with our students” Simmons said. “The joy on the students' and teachers' faces was one of the best parts of the hour."
