Peace of Mind Conference

Seniors in the Practicum in Human Services class attended Mosaic Counseling's annual "Peace of Mind" conference last week, where they were able to hear speakers on a variety of mental health topics, and meet and talk with representatives from local non-profit and mental health agencies. Some topics included:

  • Understanding Stress and Anxiety

  • Building Emotional Resilience

  • Recognizing Signs of Depression

  • Strategies for Managing Peer Pressure

  • Importance of Self-Care and Mindfulness

  • Healthy Communication and Relationships

  • Coping with Grief and Loss

  • Mental Health Resources and Support Systems

  • Overcoming Stigma Around Mental Health

  • Balancing School, Work, and Personal Life

Keynote speaker, Dr. Kristin Neff, , who pioneered the field more than 20 years ago and has been recognized as one of the most influential researchers in psychology worldwide. In her bestseller, Self-Compassion, she shares simple and actionable guides proven to increase motivation, boost resilience, and improve mental health. β€œWe have this superpower in our back pocket, we just don’t know it’s there,” says Dr. Neff. β€œSelf-compassion makes us stronger, more motivated, and less self-indulgent.” At a time when burnout is threatening our happiness, success, and productivity, she shows us how to tap into self-compassion and free ourselves to thrive.
