Tyler ISD Career & Technology Center (CTC) students took a step into the future of STEM careers today as the U.S. Navy unveiled its new Strike Group mixed-reality experience. This first-of-its-kind mobile showcase highlights the technology, teamwork, and innovation central to Navy life.
The Strike Group immerses participants in three high-intensity challenges: All Hands, a flight deck simulation aboard the USS Gerald R. Ford; Train, a Navy SEALβinspired mental and physical test; and Seek, an Arctic submarine mission through the βSilent Service.β Using cutting-edge mixed reality, students worked together to experience what it takes to fuel, fly, and fight as part of Americaβs most advanced naval force.
Rear Admiral James P. Waters, Commander of Navy Recruiting Command, shared that βa STEM career in the Navy provides a life-changing experience filled with adventure, teamwork, and support, and the Strike Group brings all these aspects to life in the most realistic ways possible.β
Tyler ISD welcomed the Navyβs mobile experience to connect students with real-world pathways in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. βOur students had an incredible opportunity today to engage with hands-on experiences that push them to think critically, problem-solve, and collaborate,β Tyler ISD Executive Director of College and Career, Dr. Kristen Walls, said. βOpportunities like this not only broaden their horizons but also show them how their skills can translate into future careers, whether in the military or in civilian industries.β
The event also highlighted the Navyβs commitment to building the next generation of leaders through its $180,000 ROTC scholarship program, which encourages top-performing students to explore educational and service opportunities.
