student judge

As student engagement continues across Tyler ISD in our final weeks of school, Rice Elementary created the mock trial, State v Jack Robinson (aka Jack and the Beanstalk) which was held at the Tyler ISD Career & Technology Center courtroom. Students filled the roles of being a judge, jury, prosecution, defense, court reporter and witnesses. Two sets of students served in these capacities in two separate trials. One group found Jack 'guilty' whereas the other found him 'not guilty'.

After the trials, the students toured the Career & Technology Center with administration to explore, investigate and learn about each of the Career & Technical Education programs of study Tyler ISD provides. Students had the opportunity to look at equipment, labs, high school students in action, as well as ask teachers more information about each pathway. It was quite the engaging experience!
