CTElite

The Graphics Arts, 3D Modeling and AV Production teachers, along with the expert guidance of Dr. Walls, community outreach from Jessica Brown, AV promotional video from Mr. Bethany, logo design by Ms. Cooper and Mr. Sturrock, plus the voice of Principal Blake have created our own high-level competition to keep students engaged near the end of the year, give students connection with community leaders, and help them be part of real-world scenarios! It is called CTElite, fusing Career & Technical Education with the word Elite! We are running the competition for 3 programs in our inaugural year, will branch out to more CTE courses next year, and reach out to other schools in following years. What are the benefits?

  • High-level student engagement

  • Community industry experts act as official judges

  • Community industry experts get to see exactly what our students create

  • Prizes are donated from our industry experts

  • Staying local keeps costs at a minimum, since there is no travel or fees

  • Students experience real-world scenarios in their prompts

  • Students create excellent portfolio pieces

  • Internships are created for some of the 1st-3rd place winners

  • Student-Teacher relationships grow exponentially

  • Students who don't normally compete in other activities get a chance

The AV Production competition started a week early, as editing takes a bit longer. Teams of 4 compete in the following:

Prompt: Unhealthy Fandom

Must include the line, “Promise not to freak out.”

 Videos must start with:

5 seconds of black

5 second slate with CTElite 2024, Team Letter

Practicum of Graphic Design students will be creating marketing components for a hypothetical new concert venue in Tyler. A venue logo, a restaurant logo, and an entertainment group logo, a promotional poster, and merchandise must be designed in 4 days!

3D Modeling and Animation students will have to create a vintage arcade featuring 5 stand up video games, a skee-ball game, an air hockey table, a logo and sign, plus include special lighting within 4 days!

Community judges will be given the work anonymously along with a score card. Results and student work will be revealed at the CTC in April. The prizes are phenomenal this year, as Mrs. Jessica Brown worked with community leaders for donations.
