The History of Buffalo Wings

Legend has it that Buffalo wings were invented in 1964 by Teressa Bellissimo at the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, New York. One late night, her son and his friends came to the bar looking for a snack, so Teressa deep-fried some leftover wings, tossed them in hot sauce, and served them with celery and blue cheese dressing. The dish was an instant hit and quickly became a local favorite.

The name "Buffalo wings" is derived from the city where they were created, not from the animal. Today, Buffalo wings are a popular appetizer or snack served in bars and restaurants around the world, often enjoyed with various flavors of sauce ranging from mild to extremely spicy.

The Anchor Bar still exists today in Buffalo, where you can enjoy the original Buffalo wings and experience a piece of culinary history.
