pre-k students practicing letter recognition, rhyming, and numbers

Next week Pre-K starts their end of year assessments PLUS they are also starting their ABC countdown to the end of the year! Today's theme was Aloha Day in which students used a Chicka Chicka Boom Boom tree to practice letter and sound recognition. Other games they played were Find the Rhyming Match and Limbo Number Train! Pre-K finished their day with a yummy popsicle.

During these formative years, children develop critical pre-reading skills such as phonemic awareness, letter recognition, and vocabulary acquisition. By nurturing these foundational skills early on, educators set students on a path towards becoming proficient readers and confident communicators. Moreover, exposure to language-rich environments and engaging literacy activities in Pre-K fosters a love for reading and learning, laying the foundation for a lifelong appreciation of literature. Additionally, strong reading foundations in Pre-K not only support academic achievement but also contribute to cognitive development, social-emotional growth, and overall school readiness. By prioritizing the development of strong reading skills in Pre-K students, educators provide them with the tools and confidence needed to succeed in school and beyond.
