Cougar Connection Newsletter

A Note from Mrs. Cureton:

We had a great turnout for our Living Wax Museum Thursday night! Thank you to all of our families who came out to support our students!

Next week, our 3rd-5th students gear up for district benchmark testing. Tuesday, 2/27, Reading benchmark. Tuesday, 3/5, Math benchmark. Wednesday, 3/6, (5th only) Science benchmark. Please help set your student up for success on these assessments by having them at school no later than 7:50am, ensuring they get a good night's rest, and ensuring they eat breakfast(either at school or home). Thank you for helping us support your student!

Transfer applications are due NEXT WEEK--Friday, March 1st. If your student is currently on a transfer to our campus, please make sure you complete the transfer application for the 24-25 school year as applications do not roll over from year to year, they are a yearly application.

Read Across America (Dr. Seuss) Week: Our campus is excited to celebrate reading with Read Across America Week March 4th-8th. We are inviting our students to participate in the dress up days for the week--see flyer below!

Spring pictures are coming--Friday, March 8th! Order forms were sent home this week--if you did not get one, please contact our front office.

2023-2024 Yearbook: Exciting news! We are starting orders for our campus yearbook! This year, the cover of our yearbook will be designed by one of our Clarkston students! If you would like to purchase a yearbook so that your student has a keepsake for the year and can collect signatures from classmates on the last week of school, you can order using the link below. Yearbooks will be delivered to students during the last 2 weeks of school (May 13-24). Online ordering ends April 8, 2024.

Arrival Procedures

ALL students should enter campus through the cafeteria doors each morning. Only students and staff are allowed to enter through the cafeteria doors. Breakfast will be served in the cafeteria, and is free to all students, from 7:00am-7:45am. Any student arriving to campus after 7:50am will need to have a parent walk them in through the front entrance doors.

Dismissal Procedures:

Parents should complete an After-School Action Plan(with classroom teacher) so that teachers and staff have a written plan for each student.  Parents must call the front office or submit a written request for student dismissal changes by 2:30 p.m. each day.

Students in grades pre-k, kindergarten, and first will not be allowed to dismiss as "walkers". They must have an older sibling at Clarkston to walk home with them.

Parents may pick up their child by signing him/her out through the office (before 2:30pm).  Students will be released only to persons listed for student pick-up.  Anyone picking up a student shall be required to show valid identification.  When possible, schedule appointments during non-school times (After school, Student Holidays…)
