Cougar Connection Newsletter

A Note from Mrs. Cureton:

We are seeing some amazing growth in our kids during this first week of our middle of the year academic progress assessments! Can't wait to share student growth with all of our families soon! Next week, we will continue assessments for Prek(Circle assessments), K-2 (mClass-reading assessments), & K-5 (iReady-math assessments). Parents, please help us to create the best environment for your student to succeed on their assessments by making sure they get a good night's rest and are at school no later than 7:50am each day.

No School Monday, January 15th--Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Math, Makers, & More Night: Please join us for our annual Math, Makers, & More Night on Thursday, January 25th from 5:30pm--7:00pm. We will have fun math, science, & STEM activities for families to complete at the event & take home for more fun at home! PTA will also have a pancake dinner in the cafĂ© for families & will be raffling a few gift cards to those families in attendance. We look forward to seeing everyone there!

100th day of School-January 30, 2024: We invite all students to join us in celebrating the 100th day of school! Wear 100 of some items (stickers, buttons, Band-Aids, etc) or dress as an 100 year old! Let's have some fun and celebrate 100 days of learning!

Have a great weekend!

Arrival Procedures

students should enter campus through the cafeteria doors each morning. Only students and staff are allowed to enter through the cafeteria doors. Breakfast will be served in the cafeteria, and is free to all students, from 7:00am-7:45am. Any student arriving to campus after 7:50am will need to have a parent walk them in through the front entrance doors.

Dismissal Procedures:

Parents should complete an After-School Action Plan(with classroom teacher) so that teachers and staff have a written plan for each student.  Parents must call the front office or submit a written request for student dismissal changes by 2:30 p.m. each day.

Students in grades pre-k, kindergarten, and first will not be allowed to dismiss as "walkers". They must have an older sibling at Clarkston to walk home with them.

Parents may pick up their child by signing him/her out through the office (before 2:30pm).  Students will be released only to persons listed for student pick-up.  Anyone picking up a student shall be required to show valid identification.  When possible, schedule appointments during non-school times (After school, Student Holidays…)
