Cougar Connection Newsletter

A Note from Mrs. Cureton:

We've had a great first few days back from Winter Break! If you & your family are new to our campus-welcome! We are glad to have you in Cougar Nation! Please let us know if you need help in getting connected with LiveSchool-our school behavior tracker, campus texts, or your student's teacher...we are here to partner with you to best support your student!

Within the next few weeks, all of our Pre-K--5th grade students will be taking their middle of the year academic progress assessments. We are excited to see the results of the tremendous efforts your students are making here at school! Parents, please help us to create the best environment for your student to succeed on their assessments by making sure they get a good night's rest and are at school no later than 7:50am each day. Once we have concluded our assessment windows, we will send home assessment reports for each student so that you guys are able to celebrate the growth we expect to see at home!

Pizza by the Slice: Please see the flyer below for our monthly Pizza by the Slice fundraiser. Please note that all pizza money must be  turned in by Wednesday, January 10th @11am. We cannot make exceptions to the due date/time due to ordering processes with our pizza vendor. Students are not allowed to have individual pizzas delivered to our front offices on these days. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please contact me.

Math, Makers, & More Night: Please join us for our annual Math, Makers, & More Night on Thursday, January 25th from 5:30pm--7:00pm. We will have fun math, science, & STEM activities for families to complete at the event & take home for more fun at home! PTA will also have a pancake dinner in the cafĂ© for families & will be raffling a few gift cards to those families in attendance. We look forward to seeing everyone there!

Have a great weekend!

Arrival Procedures

students should enter campus through the cafeteria doors each morning. Only students and staff are allowed to enter through the cafeteria doors. Breakfast will be served in the cafeteria, and is free to all students, from 7:00am-7:45am. Any student arriving to campus after 7:50am will need to have a parent walk them in through the front entrance doors.

Dismissal Procedures:

Parents should complete an After-School Action Plan(with classroom teacher) so that teachers and staff have a written plan for each student.  Parents must call the front office or submit a written request for student dismissal changes by 2:30 p.m. each day.

Students in grades pre-k, kindergarten, and first will not be allowed to dismiss as "walkers". They must have an older sibling at Clarkston to walk home with them.

Parents may pick up their child by signing him/her out through the office (before 2:30pm).  Students will be released only to persons listed for student pick-up.  Anyone picking up a student shall be required to show valid identification.  When possible, schedule appointments during non-school times (After school, Student Holidays…)
