pre-k students working together to create their classroom christmas tree

A message from Mrs. Busby, Pre-K teacher!

"These past few weeks in Pre-K were so much fun! Don't get me wrong, we always have fun, but this time we were able to have fun with something that everyone loves which is the holidays! We  talked about Old Saint Nick, and let's just say, we had so much fun not only learning but building memories. We first started with our β€œFriendship Christmas Tree”. See this tree is special because it was done by the children. They laid on the floor and drew or wrote things that made them happy. We then colored reindeer, ornaments, stockings, and candy canes this was special because once again we worked together. We put all of this together and made a photo wall where they could talk with their families about how working together is so much fun.

During Reading Language Arts, we wrote/ drew letters to Santa using our phonemic awareness skills of listening to each sound that we hear when writing. We also made nutcrackers where we had to cut out the body and match the uppercase letter with the lowercase letter to put the body together.

During math, we made Salt-dough ornaments which was so fun because we talked about why it's important to add the correct amount of scoops of each ingredient.

We also went on to make Melt Plastic Cup Ornaments for science as we talked about what happens when we put things in the sun or an oven.

For our fine motor skills, we made candy canes using red and white beads and green pipe cleaners. We also put our skills to the test as we followed a pattern.

We also made reindeer food!"
