Cougar Connection Newsletter

A Note from Mrs. Cureton:

Families: As we approach Thanksgiving break, I want to take a moment to express gratitude for the unwavering commitment our families have shown to our school community. Your support and involvement is crucial in creating an environment where our students can thrive.

Our teachers play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our children. They dedicate countless hours to providing quality education and fostering a positive learning atmosphere. Your encouragement and collaboration can significantly impact their ability to inspire and guide our students.

I urge you to consider ways in which you can support our teaching staff--whether through open communication with your child's teacher(s), reinforcing the importance of education at home, volunteering at school, or sending a short note to a teacher to express your gratitude for their impact and time.

Your partnership in your child's journey through education is highly valued, and together, we can create the best educational experience for your child at Clarkston.

My sincerest appreciation and gratitude goes to our families and our teaching staff--together, you guys make Clarkston great...thank you!  I hope that you all enjoy your time with your kids over this 9 day holiday break! We can't wait to see all of our Cougars back at school on Monday, November 27th!

5th Grade Parents: The AVID application window at Hubbard is now open! Follow this link to learn more about the AVID program. To apply for the program, the application can be accessed at this link. Deadline to apply is November 18th.

Christmas Musical/Winter Program: This year the program will be held at Moore Middle School @6:00pm. This is a whole school performance, so all Clarkston students will perform in this program. Please note that we will have a very full house for this event.  In anticipation for this, we have moved to program to Moore MS this year to accommodate a larger crowd.

Arrival time for all students participating is 5:30.

Stage crew is asked to report at 5:00pm & stage crew is encouraged to wear black shirts, as they will be on stage moving props around throughout the program. We look forward to seeing our Clarkston Cougars showcase their talent!

Have a restful, fun, & family filled Thanksgiving break!

Arrival Procedures

students should enter campus through the cafeteria doors each morning. Only students and staff are allowed to enter through the cafeteria doors. Breakfast will be served in the cafeteria, and is free to all students, from 7:00am-7:45am. Any student arriving to campus after 7:50am will need to have a parent walk them in through the front entrance doors.

Dismissal Procedures:

Parents should complete an After-School Action Plan(with classroom teacher) so that teachers and staff have a written plan for each student.  Parents must call the front office or submit a written request for student dismissal changes by 2:30 p.m. each day.

Students in grades pre-k, kindergarten, and first will not be allowed to dismiss as "walkers". They must have an older sibling at Clarkston to walk home with them.

Parents may pick up their child by signing him/her out through the office (before 2:30pm).  Students will be released only to persons listed for student pick-up.  Anyone picking up a student shall be required to show valid identification.  When possible, schedule appointments during non-school times (After school, Student Holidays…)
