Teacher of the Year

The faculty and staff at Boulter Middle School has chosen the teacher of the year for the 2023-2024 school year!

Congratulations to 6th grade RLA teacher - Mrs. Maggi Vestal-Cook

Here are a few words from Mrs. Vestal-Cook -

“Love your calling with passion, it is the meaning of your life.” - Auguste Rodin

It has been said that we should love our calling with passion, as it is the meaning of life. In my decade of teaching, I have not only loved my calling with so much passion, but also deeply loved all the wonderful things that came in between. It is by grace upon grace that I have seen this love in the faces of my students, in witnessing their classroom growth, and in being entrusted to mold them holistically. In my three and a half years in Boulter, I have such a deep love for the team I have and for the students under my care. It is in seeing that they are so capable of leading, challenging the status quo, and growing that inspires me everyday.  To further serve the students, I was also motivated to go outside the box and provide avenues for them to discover their giftedness.

For the past years, I have organized an annual virtual international colloquy between our students and students from the Philippines so they can immerse themselves in a different culture and embed their sense of global connection partnerships. This also allowed students from the Philippines to learn about our Viking virtues and forge friendships. In my belief in our campus’ best practices, we have partnered with an international school so they can learn from Boulter’s Professional Learning Communities at its best. Last year, we officially launched our first-ever Boulter Chess Competition to showcase our own students who have developed a natural love for the sport. At the beginning of the academic year, we celebrated our students as they launched their book publication making them Boulter’s pride as young authors.

All of these are inspired by the students who have shown me what they can, so I made sure it will happen for them. These activities and events brought the spotlight on our students and beloved campus because we have so much to share. I am but a vessel in laying these foundations because I am part of a team that does. I am grateful to my Viking family for allowing me to spread my wings with them as we fly higher.  I belonged, believed, and became, that’s why I allowed myself to be instrumental.
