Learn S'more About AVID

“Learn S’more About AVID” was an awesome event Tuesday, November 28 . Parents were given vital information about the AVID program and we added some more students to the movement.  The Boulter Middle School AVID coordinator is Ms. Kierra Green.

Avid, which stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination, is an education system designed to help students succeed in school and prepare for college and career opportunities. Avid employs various strategies and methodologies to support students in their academic journey. Here are ways in which Avid can help students:

    • Avid helps students explore potential career paths and prepares them for the demands of college. This includes guidance on selecting courses, understanding college application processes, and developing study habits necessary for higher education.
  7. Study Skills:

    • Avid equips students with study skills such as summarizing information, creating outlines, and reviewing material regularly. These skills contribute to improved retention and understanding of content.
  8. Support and Guidance:

    • Avid provides a support system for students, including trained tutors and mentors. This creates a network of assistance for students who may face challenges in their academic journey.
  9. Cultivation of Growth Mindset:

    • Avid fosters a growth mindset, encouraging students to view challenges as opportunities for learning and growth. This mindset can contribute to increased resilience and persistence in the face of academic challenges.
  10. Cultural Relevance:

    • Avid recognizes and values diversity. It strives to make education culturally relevant, helping students connect their learning to their own experiences and backgrounds.

By incorporating these elements into its program, Avid aims to empower students with the skills and mindset needed to excel academically and succeed in their future endeavors.
