On October 11, 2023, a group of AVID students had the opportunity to visit Grambling University. BMS AVID coordinator, Kierra Green made the following comments.
"We are extremely grateful for those who helped us make this possible. This was a great learning experience for them. Some have never been out of the state of Texas & others had never experienced riding a charter bus, or both. Our students learned about the admissions process, new majors and careers, the renown Grambling Band, Clubs, Greek Orgs and more! They got to interact with the Student Government Association, some were able to eat in the Cafe and experience Soul Food Wednesday, where they served Fried Chicken, Collard Greens, Black eyed peas & Mac and Cheese!! There were so many food options they didn’t know what to choose!
The college students & staff we came across were so welcoming to our students. A HUGE thank you to my BMS village , the community, parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, educators etc. For making this possible #VikingNationđź’™"
AVID students will have multiple field trips this year.
