Students building a marble run

Students at Boulter Middle School  are embracing innovation and creativity in a whole new way through the exciting world of makerspaces. These dynamic learning environments provide young minds with the tools and freedom to design, build, and experiment.

Since mid September, BMS students have enjoyed playing games and using their imaginations to build with various materials.  These types of activities teach middle school kids to concentrate on the task at hand and practice patience. This is especially beneficial in today's fast-paced world, where distractions are abundant.

The makerspace also encourages interaction with peers, promoting communication, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Students revisit life skills learned in their younger years, like taking turns, resolving conflicts, and engaging in friendly competition, which helps improve their social skills.  Also, many games require strategic thinking and problem-solving. Middle school kids learn to plan, make decisions, and adapt to changing situations, enhancing their critical thinking and analytical abilities.
