Students were treated to an unforgettable Black History Month performance last Thursday, February 12, led by teaching artist Hope Shiver from Young Audiences.

The school hosted two dynamic shows to ensure every grade level could experience the celebration. The first performance engaged Pre-K through 3rd grade students with interactive storytelling, lively music, and dramatic moments that brought history to life in a fun and meaningful way. Later in the day, 4th through middle school students enjoyed a deeper look into Black history through powerful performances that blended rhythm, movement, and historical narratives.

Both performances were filled with energy, emotion, and important lessons about perseverance, culture, and contributions of Black leaders throughout history. Students were captivated from start to finishβ€”clapping along to songs, reacting to dramatic scenes, and leaving with a greater appreciation for the stories shared.

Events like this highlight the importance of learning beyond the classroom and using the arts to connect students to history in memorable ways. It was truly a powerful and inspiring way to honor Black History Month, and we are grateful to Hope Shiver and Young Audiences for an incredible experience our students will not soon forget. πŸŽΆπŸ“šβœ¨
